If you’ve spent your career solving complex problems, seeing patterns others miss, and bringing big ideas to life, then you’ve worked hard, adapted, and succeeded. Often you smashed your goals through sheer determination. But sometimes, things feel… off.
And then you got the diagnosis. Autism. ADHD. Both. Possibly another diagnosis such as dyslexia, OCD or Tourette’s. Suddenly, it started to become clearer, even as new questions emerged.
How do you lead when your brain works differently?
How do you balance who YOU are with the unspoken expectations of the workplace?
How do you embrace your strengths without burning out in the process?
I ‘m Beth Grimm, and I know how it feels because I’ve been there. Coming to diagnosis later in life, everything clicked into place. The reason everyone appears to play by unwritten rules, and why it always felt like I missed the memo. I knew I was on the verge of something big, but there was something blocking the path. Now I could start to see what it was.
Discovering I was ADHD and Autistic helped me to realize I wasn’t a weird horse, I was a normal zebra. When we hold ourselves to someone else’s standards, we forget about the things that make us shine, and ignore the things we need to perform at our best. We miss out on promotions, opportunities for growth, even burn ourselves out.
The Normal Zebra is a space for neurodivergent leaders and founders to explore. Here, you’ll find reflections on those magical strengths, the hidden challenges no one talks about that make it oh so much harder, and the complicated process of figuring out what “normal” even means, when you’ve spent your life hiding your true identity.
This isn’t about fixing yourself. You’re not broken. It’s about navigating leadership on your terms—without sacrificing your health, your integrity, or your brilliance.
If you’ve ever felt like the zebra in a field full of horses, sparkling, brilliant, and just a little … different, you’re in the right place now.
Welcome to the herd.
